Norm Langer of Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant was proud to be a part of local non-profit Heart of Los Angeles’ planting of fruit trees as part of Fallen Fruit’s “Urban Fruit Trail” being created throughout Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
When HOLA’s first planting at Lafayette Park was destroyed by vandals, Norm asked if he could help support a replanting, as well as support their plans for trees at MacArthur Park – directly adjacent to Langer’s Deli’s historic location at 7th and Alvarado. HOLA Communications Director Lee Schube was thrilled to accept Norm’s support, and the MacArthur Park tree planting – featuring more than 30 HOLA young people (Rampart-area students of all ages) was a complete success.<\/p>\n
We were joined by HOLA executive director Tony Brown, as well as various members of the local media, including Fox 11 News, KCBS 2 \/ KCAL 9, KTLA, KNX and many others.<\/p>\n
Langer’s Deli provided box lunches to all the participants – just our way of saying “thank you” for not only help revitalize MacArthur Park, but for being such an important and valued part of the lives of the young people who live near us in the Rampart \/ Westlake area of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
