Fiesta Bo: Tom Hanks Treats His Crew to Langer’s Deli

Bo Stevenson, best known among his peers as “Fiesta Bo” due to his choice of a lime-green Ford Fiesta as transportation, is the personal assistant to Academy Award-winning actor and director (and everyone’s favorite) Tom Hanks. Tom is directing his first feature since “That Thing You Do” entitled “Larry Crowne” and it’s Hanksian tradition to treat his crew to Langer’s Deli – so Bo documented the entire thing on his Flip Video as part of his campaign to capture his experience working on the film.

Langer’s wishes the best to the crew of “Larry Crowne” and sends a special thank you to Bo and Tom for their valued patronage.

And go see “Toy Story 3” by Disney/Pixar now, starring Tom Hanks!

The Faster Times: LA Sports Live Review

Phil Sandick of The Faster Times has a great review of our favorite radio program in Los Angeles, or anywhere, for that matter – LA Sports Live 10AM-2PM weekdays on 710 ESPN, hosted by Andrew Siciliano and Lakers legend Mychal Thompson. Phil even notes Mychal’s legendary penchant for free food – particularly when it comes from Langer’s:

Loyal listeners to LA Sports Live will also know that Mychal is a devotee of free food. There’s usually a lot of pastrami, etc. around, thanks to Langer’s Deli, the LA lunch spot that sponsors a noon daily point-counterpoint between Andrew and Mychal. The debate regularly involves Andrew whining, “Mychal,” as if at wit’s end with Mychal’s unorthodox opinions. Their greatest conflict may have occurred when Mychal offended Andrew by putting hot sauce on his free potato latkes instead of apple sauce.

Phil also included a couple of vintage spots from 1980s Laker broadcasts on YouTube featuring the legendary late Chick Hearn having fun with Mychal during his Lake Show glory years.

Lady Ducayne: Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant

Food blog Lady Ducayne recently published an account of the authoress’ first visit to Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant – despite being a native of Los Angeles!

Oh Langer’s! I feel like my Los Angeles County birth certificate is finally valid! How did I go my whole life (26 years) without visiting? . . . Soon, the sandwich I had waited my whole life to eat arrived. It was wonderful. Incredibly wonderful. Starting with the bread. Oh my goodness that bread was magic! Toasted on the edges, but soft to the bite.

Norm Langer Judges the 710 ESPN High Noon Showdown

Norm Langer was guest judge today on the 710 ESPN Langer’s Lunch High Noon Showdown with Andrew Siciliano and Mychal Thompson, and it was just a fantastic experience for all of us at Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant. As you may know, Langer’s sponsors the Langer’s Lunch High Noon Showdown every day at noon on 710AM KSPN (710 ESPN), but every couple of months, we visit the station and bring lunch for everyone there.

So today was a Langer’s Lunch day at 710 ESPN – but it was made extra-special by show producer Drew Belzer who graciously asked Norm Langer to guest judge the High Noon Showdown. We won’t divulge who won (Andrew or Mychal) – but it’s totally worth a listen by clicking here.
