As thanks, Rampart Commanding Officer Brian Pratt presented Norm with this beautiful plaque, thanking him for his support. We wanted to share it with all of you.

LAWeekly.com: 5 Great LA Egg Creams

Angela Matano of LAWeekly.com recently published a great piece entitled “5 Great LA Egg Creams” and it includes a stop at Langer’s Delicatessen:

Available in both chocolate and vanilla, Langer’s takes their fountain drinks seriously. Large and frothy, with a good head of foam on top, the chocolate egg cream (made from Hershey’s syrup), pairs perfectly with a #19. And if you don’t know what a #19 is, your next trip to one of the city’s best delis is long overdue.

ShalomLife.com: The Ten Best Delis in North America

We are thrilled to have been named to Shalom Life’s “The Ten Best Delis in North America” list – thank you so much!

Langer’s Deli offers one of the best pastrami sandwiches and what Nora Ephron from The New Yorker calls on their website, “… in short, a work of art.” Another great draw is that the current owner, Norm Langer (son of the founder Al Langer, who passed away in 2007), knows most of the clientele and has been with the deli since his father opened it.

LA Times: Jonathan Gold’s “The Finest Food in Los Angeles for even the Thinnest Wallets”

Jonathan Gold, Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic of the Los Angeles Times, has a new article now available in which he discusses ways for food enthusiasts to enjoy the finest foods available without breaking their budgets in the process.

Best of all, Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant was included in his list:

Everyone knows that Langer’s serves the best pastrami sandwich in Los Angeles. Still, if you haven’t been to Langer’s in a few years, you might be surprised to see the long lines outside the delicatessen on a Saturday afternoon, supplicants waiting for their shot at the No. 19, a baroque concoction of hand-cut pastrami, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing on double-baked rye bread.

Thank you so much, Jonathan, for your continued and important support of what we do here at Langer’s Deli. – The Langer Family

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin: A Fulfilling Trip to Classic Langer’s Deli

Trevor Summons of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin recently paid a visit to Langer’s Deli with his grandson, and he had a wonderful time:

The menu is quite large and yet pretty easy to figure out. The regular favorite meals are numbered, with the most popular being No. 19. It’s the hot pastrami meal, with Swiss cheese and coleslaw on toasted rye bread. I chose it without the slaw ….

My grandson went for a roast beef and he was hard pressed to finish it.

Norm Langer at Heart of Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park Urban Fruit Trail Planting

Norm Langer of Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant was proud to be a part of local non-profit Heart of Los Angeles’ planting of fruit trees as part of Fallen Fruit’s “Urban Fruit Trail” being created throughout Los Angeles.

When HOLA’s first planting at Lafayette Park was destroyed by vandals, Norm asked if he could help support a replanting, as well as support their plans for trees at MacArthur Park – directly adjacent to Langer’s Deli’s historic location at 7th and Alvarado. HOLA Communications Director Lee Schube was thrilled to accept Norm’s support, and the MacArthur Park tree planting – featuring more than 30 HOLA young people (Rampart-area students of all ages) was a complete success.

We were joined by HOLA executive director Tony Brown, as well as various members of the local media, including Fox 11 News, KCBS 2 / KCAL 9, KTLA, KNX and many others.

Langer’s Deli provided box lunches to all the participants – just our way of saying “thank you” for not only help revitalize MacArthur Park, but for being such an important and valued part of the lives of the young people who live near us in the Rampart / Westlake area of Los Angeles.

Thank you, Heart of Los Angeles, for allowing us to be a part of your important endeavors. Keep up the fantastic work.
